Greg served as Chief Technology Officer of SRI International supporting a broad range of invention, application and technology transitions across all divisions. He received a BASc degree in electrical engineering from the University of British Columbia, an MS degree in bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a PhD in electrical engineering and an MD degree from Stanford University.
Greg is a Professor Emeritus of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University with a courtesy appointment in the Department of Medicine. His research areas include biomedical instruments and sensors, cardiovascular physiology, in vitro models for stem cell tissue repair, and medical diagnostics. He has published more than 180 peer-reviewed papers, has written one textbook and has 66 issued patents.
From 2008 through 2010 he was Director of the Microelectronics Technology Office at DARPA. He has been a long-standing member of the Defense Sciences Research Council (DARPA), and has served as Associate Chair, then Chairman. He also has extensive industry experience including co-founding several companies, including Cepheid (acquired by Danaher) and Physiowave. He was also the Chief Technology Advisor for Malibu IQ, a private equity fund commercializing the intellectual property of HRL (formerly Hughes Research Laboratories).
